Taking Back the Holidays

Tanner and I decided we need to take the boy and get away for awhile.

What better time than the Thanksgiving holiday?

Work has been overwhelming for us both and the holidays quickly add to the stress.

Mom has bronchitis and the pneumonia. Grandpa just had surgery and doesn't want to go to my uncle's this year because 'he doesn't like how Aunt Doreen treats him." Mom and Grandpa will be having Thanksgiving together. We are invited.

Uncle Jim is having the annual Thanksgiving gathering. Our invitation: "We hope to see you there since you haven't made it over in the last couple of years." (no pressure)

The Steinbauer annual gathering. This year will be the last gathering at the Steinbauer homestead. We attend every year since we no longer attend Steinbauer Christmas and it's the only time we see the extended family. It's almost a 2 hour drive and we bring a dish. It starts at 1:00 and Turner's naptime is from 12:30 - 3. Not exactly convenient for us, but we go anyway and Turner doesn't nap.

The Neill gathering. We usually stop over after the Steinbauer Thanksgiving. We are always exhausted, Turner is always overwhelmed and tired, but "we can't visit the Steinbauer's and not stop by for a couple of hours" says husband. Oh, and "try to keep Turner awake on the way home because we don't want him napping so close to bedtime." Last year he cried for an hour and a half during the drive home. What a nightmare.

Where are we going to go this year? Who did we see last year? Who's turn is it? What day? What time does it start? What do we have to bring? What about Turner's naptime?

No more.

Atleast not this year.

We'll be hiding in North Carolina.

Maybe a Thanksgiving vacation will be our new tradition.

I'm actually excited for the Thanksgiving holiday this year. . . it's been awhile.

Good for you!!! I think it's great. It's how I'm feeling about having Thanksgiving at my house this year. It feels good to do something I want to do for a change. I am looking forward to it for the first time in a long time. So I'm happy for you...and hope you have a blast!
