I finished the second book of the Twilight series, New Moon. I really liked it and have started reading the third book of the series, Eclipse. I'm really liking it so far and I have to say that the movies are such a disappointment. I understand it's difficult to capture everything in the book, but the author is very involved in writing about every one's inner thoughts and that's what I love about the story. It's practically impossible to put that on the big screen. I'm still shocked that I'm loving this young adult vampire / werewolf / teenager love story. It's just that it's written so well!

I survived NYC. Tanner and I had a good time, but we returned EXHAUSTED. Trying to fit all of the sites into a day and a half really kicked our butts. We hit all of the major stuff, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, USS Intrepid, Times Square, Wall Street, Ground Zero, and the United Nations. We stayed outside of one of the four China Towns outside of Queens. We did a little bit of shopping, but for the most part, everyone was selling the same stuff. It was a neat trip and I'm glad we saw everything, but it's one of those trips where once you've seen something once, there is no need to go back. We didn't fall in love with the place and agreed that it would take a great deal of patience to live there. Most of the streets were stinky and filled with litter. However, it was so great to spend the weekend in 'The Big Apple' with my husband. It was nice to be reminded of how things were before Turner. A time when we could have a conversation without interruption and forget about our responsibilities for the weekend. We were overdue for a weekend like that.

So, I'm sure you're wondering how Turner was while we were gone? I guess he cried for me the first night because he fell of of his bike at Grandpa's and skinned his knee, but other than that, it seems that he had a great time. Tanner and I picked him up from my Mom's on Sunday night and I took Monday off of work so he and I could spend the day at home. I'm so glad I did! There is nothing more comforting than being in your own house and enjoying your own couch, yard, etc. It was good to be home.

Hopefully, the next vacation I take will actually be a RELAXING one. One full of sunshine, sand, and water.
