The morning of Turner's surgery went well. We left for Cleveland at 7:30 and Turner slept almost the entire trip. He was in a great mood and did very well with the fasting. Unfortunately, there were complications with the surgery before his and instead of having the surgery at 9:45, he had it closer to 12:30. The nurses decided at 11:15 to give him what they called "happy juice" to help him relax and get sleepy. Ten minutes after they gave it to him he was screaming and kicking in a major tantrum. Not typical for Turner! They came in and said that the medicine must have had a reverse effect. Great! Atleast they were able to get him into the operating room soon after and literally 45 minutes later he was done. He did really well with the anesthesia and slept the entire way home. He didn't get sick but was a little grumpy that evening. Tuesday morning he woke up in a great mood and was back to his normal busy self. The whites of his eyes on the inside have blood on them which can stay red for up to 3 weeks, but every day we can tell they are clearing up. His eyes have definitely improved, but we aren't 100% sure if they are straight yet. We'll be able to get a better look when they've cleared up. He is still wearing his glasses and will continue to do so until his next appointment on December 2. He went back to daycare yesterday and did really well. We were able to keep him on their schedule while he was off so they were grateful for that. He played really good all day and didn't cry. Tanner and I are so relieved that his first (and maybe last!) surgery has been completed successfully. I've taken a couple of pictures, but they haven't turned out very good since his eyes are still pretty dark. I'll try to have some on by the weekend though. I'm sure you are all anxious to see his new look!
