Latest Obsession

Would you like to know about my latest obsession? It's a bookcase and I'm on a quest to fill it.

It isn't the one pictured, but that spot in the sunbeam looks nice doesn't it?

My sister bought me a bookshelf for my birthday and it's a beautiful dark brown. It's been placed in my bedroom and I love it. I look at it like it's a trophy case just waiting to be filled.

Rule 1. Never give me anything empty. A tote, a bowl, a makeup bag, etc. I will make it my life's mission to fill it.

The bottom shelf of my new bookcase holds some of the books I've decided to keep from my college classes and my scrapbooks. (Yes, I scrapbook. Right after I take out my dentures and bathe myself in Wind Song.) I'm sure I'll eventually garage sale the textbooks, but right now they are filling a void. I guess I could add my old yearbooks to the bottom shelf also. The second shelf is reserved for books that I've read and didn't care for so much. Books I hated will go into the garage sale box. Top shelf, obviously will be reserved for the books that have managed to move me or influence me in some shape or form. Right now, I have one top shelf book. The Department of Lost & Found.

Brandie invited me to be a member of goodreads and I've managed to throw tons of books into a to-read file. I have her to thank for resurrecting my love of books. What started out as picking up a book to cure my boredom; I'm allocating time out of every evening to read. It's a wonderful wonderful habit. It makes me feel good to put myself in a different place for awhile.

My goal is to eventually have my bookcase full of "top shelf" literature and be able to stand back and admire my collection.

Collecting good books is definitely better than collecting Boyds Bears. What the hell was I thinking?

Btw, I've got a Boyd's Bear collection for sale if anyone is interested. Ask around next time you go to Bingo with your grandma. I'd appreciate it.

First of all, I love you. Thank you for the shout-out :) It gives me warm fuzzies to know that you have your passion for reading back. It's a wonderful thing - I couldn't agree more!

New bookshelf is awesome. I need to get one soon...my tiny dvd holder/make-shift bookshelf is overflowing. Not too pretty.

oh, and you're cracking me up with the Wind Song and Boyds references. Too funny.
